Photo1Our guest house in located at the 136 km of Suwalki stretch Ruda-Ogrodniki which is 173 km long. For cycling enthusiasts there is another 130 km stretch of the route from Tarnow to Ruda (Eurovelo R11) and 143 km Cycle Ring of Suwalki region (R65). Taking into account the fact that the area of Wigry National Park is located partly on the hills of the moraine, tours to our area provide an unforgettable experience for both the mind and the body.

WIGRY NATIONAL PARK

Photo3Its history dates back to 1931, when the landscape and floristic partial reserve WIGRY, with an area of 500 hectares, was created. After numerous changes, the area of the present Wigry National Park of 15,000 hectares in covered by forests and water in more than 80%. In 2004 the Wigry National Park, together with the entire August├│w Primeval Forest, became an object of the European network Nature 2000 ? a special bird protection area.

CAMELDOLITE MONASTERY IN WIGRY

Photo2In 1777 King Jan Kazimierz /King John Casimir/ gave the island with the buildings, lakes surrounding them and a large piece of the wilderness to the order of contemplative cloister. Cameldolite monks arrived the following year and established their headquarters. They built a chapel, a church and other necessary outbuildings. In 1671 a huge fire destroyed the wooden buildings on the island. In 1694 the Cameldolite monks began to build a large monastery with a church and outbuildings of fireproof material ? brick. First, an Italian architect, Peter Putini, designed the architectural undertaking.
